Halo Infinite: 343 Industries Answers Some Burning Questions In A Recent Interview

3DJuegos recently interviewed the team behind Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries, and we’ve got a selection of their interviews below.

A good starting point

Although the studio describes Halo Infinite as a “spiritual reboot”, they believe it’s a good starting point for those playing a Halo game for the first time.

“It’s a sequel to Halo 5, but if you’ve never played any Halo titles before, you’ll obviously have a different perspective,” 343 Industries mentioned. “However, you’ll get the same answers as everyone else if you play through Infinite in its entirety.”

“The game starts about 18 months after Halo 5”, the developers continued. “However, we didn’t want this to be a barrier for anyone picking up a Halo game for the first time”. 343 Industries illustrated this with an example: if you only play Halo 1, 2 or 3, you can understand the story without any difficulty.

Úgy tűnt eddig, hogy talán 2021 elején, esetleg tavaszán meg is jelenik a 343 Industries következő játéka.

Extensive, but not open-world

The vast explorable areas of the new title have confused the community, with some people starting to talk about it being an open world. While this is partly true, the studio has clarified this for us.

“We don’t consider it an open world, we use words like >>expansive<< or >>spacious<<,” the developers said. “Open-world is a genre of its own nowadays and has different expectations”.

343 Industries, however, reiterated that Halo Infinite contains the studio’s most extensive campaign yet, and calls it a “massive experience”, but without straying off the beaten path into what is considered an open-world title.

“We wanted to base all of our decisions on what it feels like to play a Halo,” the studio continued. “The connection with the world and the feeling it conveys is what’s incredible about Halo, and we tried to deliver that as best we could”.
