Halo Infinite’s multiplayer beta (it will remain in this state for two more days, as 343 Industries and Microsoft launched the free-to-play multiplayer segment surprisingly on November 15…) has sparked a huge online discussion about its quality and content. However, it got out of hand, so the moderators of the Halo subreddit locked it down for the weekend because users didn’t keep the right tone…
The moderators’ post says, “Some users on the sub have even been responsible for doxxing and death threats. We’re temporarily putting the sub on lockdown so people can hopefully settle down a bit, and we can hit the reset button before launch. At the end of the day, this is a video game, and this level of vitriol is unwarranted.” (And we agree, it shouldn’t be taken so seriously.)
For example, it was blown up because it was discovered that offline several game modes were available secretly, and about every second or third post was a give-and-take between users. And to pull this off days before Halo Infinite’s store release is pretty sad. The Battle Pass is small and takes a long time to complete, then the unlockables, microtransactions, game modes, and the choice to pick one not available to users… there were quite a few topics that came up on the Halo subreddit for criticism.
After all, it wouldn’t be shocking if the same thing happened again shortly after the relaunch as it did the week before, but we can’t help but sit back, get a bucket of popcorn and laugh at the circus. By the way, Halo Infinite will be released in full (including story mode; many publications gave it a 9/10 or 10/10…) on December 8 for Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC (both Steam and Microsoft Store).
