A Plague Tale: Innocence was an outstanding game (which explains why it received a PlayStation 5/Xbox Series version), which is why it’s good to see that the studio got a chance to develop the sequel: A Plague Tale: Requiem.
Focus Entertainment (whose name might not be familiar, so we’re going to explain it: previously, this company was known as Focus Home Interactive, they just renamed themselves!) and Asobo Studio previously announced the game, but the duo waited until The Game Awards to give us a glimpse into the gameplay, providing several screenshots as well that you can see below.
Here’s Focus Entertainment’s overview: “Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment are thrilled to reveal the first gameplay of A Plague Tale: Requiem, the sequel to critically acclaimed and award-winning A Plague Tale: Innocence, in a new gripping trailer that premiered during The Game Awards 2021. In this new trailer, as Robert Louis Stevenson’s poem “Requiem” sets the tone, witness the first glimpses of Amicia and Hugo’s epic adventure in a brutal, breathtaking world twisted by supernatural forces. After escaping their devastated homeland, Amicia and Hugo journey far south to new regions and vibrant cities.
Discover the cost of saving those you love in a desperate struggle for survival. Strike from the shadows or unleash hell, overcoming foes and challenges with various crafted tools and supernatural powers. Embark on a heart-rending journey in A Plague Tale: Requiem, set to release in 2022 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, and in Cloud Version on Nintendo Switch. The game will be available at launch on Xbox Game Pass for Console, PC and Cloud,” the publisher wrote.
So if you liked A Plague Tale: Innocence and played it on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you will have to either invest in a new console, or upgrade your PC, as there will be no PS4/X1 version of the sequel, which will be on Steam on PC, and the Nintendo Switch will play it via the Cloud. Also, the PC version of Xbox Game Pass was rechristened during The Game Awards. It is now called PC Game Pass.
