Is Quantic Dream Working On A “Humour-Based” Game?

David Cage’s studio, Quantic Dream (known as Fahrenheit, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, or Detroit: Become Human), isn’t just about Star Wars …

LucasFilm Games has officially snatched the Star Wars IP exclusivity from Electronic Arts’ hands, so Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment are also involved in SW games, not to mention Quantic Dream, who announced Star Wars: Eclipse during The Game Awards. But we’re not talking about that. We’re talking about another AAA project, which AccountNGT has detailed in surprising detail on Twitter. The same person also shared some pictures of Star Wars: Eclipse days before it was announced…

According to the insider, the other Quantic Dream project is based on The Dark Sorcerer tech demo. It’s okay if you don’t remember because it’s been a long time: we saw this in 2013, so it’s been over eight years since then. Thus, we embedded its video below. It could be a humour-based game, and the leading team for it wouldn’t be the Montreal studio but the headquarters in Paris. It could be much more advanced than Star Wars Eclipse, but it’s a cross-gen title. It could change due to their new strategy (and here we shouldn’t think PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it’s probably a pairing of PlayStation 5 + PlayStation 6, plus Xbox Series + the subsequent Microsoft console line…).

There would also be a PC version of the as-yet-unnamed AAA game (which would also follow David Cage’s strategy), and narrative interaction would play an important role. Historically, it could be a medieval fantasy game, and story-wise, it would be non-linear. The story would be written (unsurprisingly…) by David Cage, the head of the studio. And here’s a thought that doesn’t surprise us at all (because we’ve written about it before): Quantic Dream’s Paris studio is having a hard time finding people, and the same goes for Star Wars: Eclipse, which we wrote about last time that its development might have run into a dead end.

All this is not yet official.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title.
