Naughty Dog Leaves The Door Open For A Possible New Uncharted Game

Neil Druckmann does not consider the Uncharted  series finished, although there are currently no plans

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection for PlayStation 5, a compilation that includes the last two games in Naughty Dog’s adventure series with various graphical enhancements, hits shops this Friday, 28 January. PC gamers will have to wait a little longer, as their version will be coming to PC at a later date.

To mark the launch, GamesRadar interviewed several members of the PlayStation development team. One of them is Shaun Escayg, who talked about the remastered collection after serving as creative director on The Lost Legacy and leading the animation of cinematics on Uncharted 4.

At one point in the talk, Escayg is asked about the future of the franchise and surprisingly casts doubt on a future Uncharted 5. “I think we can safely say never say never,” Escayg explains, “Uncharted is a franchise that we love, that the studio loves. I love it, and Kurt (Kurt Margenau) loves it. It’s a world that we want to see more of, so that’s what I can say.”

These are surprising statements given that the fourth instalment is titled The Thief’s End and is set to be Nathan Drake’s final adventure. However, Naughty Dog could bring back the Uncharted universe with its protagonist or by putting the focus on other characters, as it has done in The Lost Legacy with the case of Chloe and Nadine.

While we wait to see if the studio has anything in the works, it’s worth noting that the fourth numbered instalment of the franchise is a riot of action and spectacle, with unique cutscenes and an improved narrative compared to its predecessors.
