Star Wars 1313: Here’s How Boba Fett Could Have Looked Like [VIDEO]

A never-before-seen gameplay video has surfaced from the sadly fated game.

Star Wars 1313 was revealed at E3 2012, and many people had nothing but praise for LucasArts’ game. Indeed, it was the action-adventure genre game that won over audiences and press alike in a short space of time. However, the ice began to crack underneath it when Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2013. With that, all development at LucasArts was halted, and the ice crumbled under Star Wars 1313: the game was plunged into inescapable darkness as the Star Wars license went to Electronic Arts; LucasArts developers found themselves on the street…

Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy hinted at a revival of the project at the end of 2015, but nothing came of it. And Electronic Arts didn’t take much advantage of the Star Wars IP, so LucasFilm Games, which was resurrected last year, almost immediately ripped exclusivity from Andrew Wilson’s grasp: although Respawn is still working on three games, the chances are that Electronic Arts will then stop working on the IP (we’ve written about this); but Ubisoft is already working on something, not to mention Quantic Dream (who are reportedly already having trouble with Star Wars: Eclipse development, we’ve reported on this too…).

YouTube channel The Vault has posted the video below from Star Wars 1313. Boba Fett walks across Coruscant, which was the administrative centre of the Republic and Empire. Then, there is a short chase scene and some animations in a graybox environment. The footage is from James Zachary’s site: he was previously the lead gameplay animator on Star Wars 1313…

It’s fair to ask ourselves: what would have happened if the Mouse Empire hadn’t signed an exclusive deal with Electronic Arts? Then Star Wars: Battlefront would not have been resurrected in 2015, but part 3 could have been released. And this is just a tiny slice of alternate history…
