MOVIE NEWS – The filming of the new addition to Sony’s Marvel universe, Kraven the Hunter, started, and there is some promising footage.
Sony’s Marvel universe expands itself through a new film, Kraven the Hunter. The film portrays Kraven, the earlier enemy of Spiderman, rather as an anti-hero than a supervillain. It isn’t the first time Sony’s Marvel productions came up with such an interpretation. The “wave” started with Venom and will be continued with Morbius and Kraven the Hunter. This time, the role of the new anti-hero will go to Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Some images and footage appeared on Twitter featuring the character of Kraven doing a stunt. In one of these videos, a double dressed up as Kraven is clinging to the side of a car driving down the road.

The casting of Taylor-Johnson caused some controversy between the comic book fans, as he doesn’t exactly resemble the “original Kraven”. However, Aaron Taylor-Johnson nicely addressed this issue. He told the Hero Magazine that fans of the original material need to look at the film adaptation from a different point of view:
“You do come at it from another angle, which is back-to-front for me,”
“It’s like you’re coming at it from the physical aspect, because that’s what you can see from a comic book. You go, ‘Oh, he looks like that, so I have to look like that.’ You see that, and then you start to backtrack and dig deeper, and go, ‘This is where he originates from, then he has this relationship and that relationship…’ You just hope that you’re going to portray something that you can bring to life. There is, again, room for an interpretation, and you want to be able to bring something and let it pop off the page. It’s another new challenge, we talk about putting yourself under pressure all the time. I don’t step away from controversial s***, I don’t know what it is, but I’m always drawn to the thing that might actually give me a f****** stroke!”
As the production’s filming has already started, we’ll hopefully see more pictures, favourably featuring Taylor-Johnson and the other cast members. Besides Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven, Ariana DeBose will appear as Calypso, Alessandro Nivola as an unknown villain, Christopher Abbott as The Foreigner, Fred Hechinger as The Chameleon, and the veteran actor, Russell Crowe, supposedly as Kraven’s father.
Richard Wenk will do the screenplay, and the director of the new addition to the Marvel universe is J.C. Chandor. Kraven the Hunter is set to debut on Jan. 13, 2023.
