The popular battle royale, PUBG Battlegrounds, is celebrating its fifth anniversary with many new features and plans for this year.
PUBG Battlegrounds has been one of the most important games of recent years: the phenomenon is the starting point of the battle royale genre as one of the titles that continue to attract the most players. Krafton’s game announced a monetization model change late last year, switching to free-to-play in January, and has been well received.
Sanhok map returns to the original version
The studio took advantage of the game’s good “health” to celebrate its fifth birthday and share its complete roadmap for 2022. Among the new additions, the revamp of Sanhok will be one of the most notable changes among players, one of the most popular maps the studio has reworked and now returns to its original version after listening to the community.
The new map, Kiki, is scheduled to arrive in the year’s third quarter.
The second quarter of the year will also see the arrival of a new weapon, the 7.62 MM assault rifle (AR), as well as improvements to the training mode, designed to take advantage of the influx of new players following the monetization change. The Wasteland will also be overhauled, balancing out areas that are too advantageous. Q3 will also see the arrival of a new map, Kiki, consisting of overcrowded cities, modern buildings, vast grasslands and lush swamps.
The studio also plans to revamp weapon mastery, increase the maximum level, offer stats, achievements and more. Vikendi will also be updated for the year’s final quarter, with graphical improvements and new features to the core gameplay. The arcade mode is also undergoing changes, with new game types and rewards being added. For more information on PUBG Battlegrounds’ ambitious plans, the full schedule is available on the game’s official website.
