An image from PlayStation Studios showed Kojima’s Death Stranding amongst PlayStation games. However, after all the speculation, Hideo Kojima cleared the case.
Yesterday, the new PlayStation Studios header image spread like wildfire on social media, showing Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima’s latest development, alongside developments from Guerrilla Games, Naughty Dog and SIE San Diego. Is this an indication of a possible sale of Kojima Productions to the hardware manufacturer? Nothing could be further from the truth, as the Japanese developer himself quickly denied on Twitter.
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, but KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS has been and will continue to be an independent studio. https://t.co/2M0n4ogRaa

“I’m sorry for the misunderstanding, but Kojima Productions has been and will remain an independent studio,” said the man behind sagas such as Metal Gear Solid. However, it was Kojima himself who, moments before that tweet, shared another with the image mentioned above of PlayStation Studios, giving wings to those who were convinced that news of the purchase of the development team was imminent.
In the end, it won’t be like that. Hideo Kojima will remain on his own, as has been the case since his abrupt departure from Konami, where he stayed for several decades, in 2015.
Nevertheless, there is no reason to rule out further exclusive collaborations between Kojima and PlayStation for their upcoming releases. However, there is no information on what the legendary Japanese creator might be spending his time on. The latest is the PC release of Death Stranding: Director’s Cut. A few weeks ago Hideo Kojima also spoke about Metal Gear, claiming to have felt ridiculed by his peers and his company.
