MOVIE NEWS – It’s not yet known what’s in store for Better Call Saul’s Kim Wexler in the sixth season of the series, as she’s not in the original series, Breaking Bad. Rhea Seehorn, the actress who plays her, has now revealed some details.
Tomorrow, the final season of Better Call Saul debuts on AMC, and it’s likely to offer plenty of interesting twists and emotionally heated moments. Many may wonder, given that Better Call Saul is the prequel series to Breaking Bad, what will happen to the characters who are not in the original series, but are here on Saul. We don’t know yet what’s in store for Tony Dalton’s Lalo, Michael Mando’s Nacho and Patrick Fabian’s Howard. It is also a mystery what will happen to Kim Wexler, who is also not in Breaking Bad. Rhea Seehorn, the actress who plays Kim, already knows, of course, so she’s shared some – rather vague – details.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Seehorn revealed that the final season will definitely shock fans, and for Kim, the “day of reckoning” is coming, which will be an emotional one.
“She cannot keep the internal and the external separate any longer. Kim’s compartmentalizing was always going to have a reckoning day — and it comes. Devastating, thought-provoking, suspenseful, beautiful, nail-biting, and hilarious. It is a breathless, thoughtful, stunning, and shocking season.”
We lost track of Kim last season when she plotted revenge against Howard Hamlin for his past with Saul/Jimmy. Jimmy tried to stop her from doing so, but with little success. However, we will only get the answer to how this all plays out in the final episodes of the series.
“I can’t say exactly what [Jimmy and Kim] proceed or don’t proceed with, coming out of season 5. But I can say that thread is not dropped as far as this exploration of how much of Kim’s behavior is what was always there and uncovered, versus how much of Kim’s behavior is ignited by Jimmy. And vice versa. It’s a very exciting but anxiety-inducing ride to watch them go on. Especially her.”
Of course, after all of this, many are concerned that the story will not end well for Kim, or that the character has little chance of making it out of the complications alive. Seehorn also reflected on these reactions:
“I can’t even articulate how grateful I feel about fans’ perception of my character and my performance of this character. I feel the concern. I am stopped on the street with the concern… I would tell them that I, too, was concerned for Kim. And now that I know the ending, I’m going to let you go on the ride yourself.”
Perhaps, her relationship with Saul will cost her life, or perhaps she survives if she leaves both the city and Saul behind. For now, she’s staying in Albuquerque until the end of season five, undercover, so that Saul’s fellow criminals don’t find out about it until he leaves town. In any case, there’s not much chance of a happy ending for the couple. In any case, we’ll find out soon enough, with season six debuting on AMC on April 18.
