MOVIE NEWS – Just weeks after his arrest in Hawaii in March, Ezra Miller, star of The Flash and many other films, has been detained again.
Ezra Miller is on the run. In late March, the star of the upcoming superhero movie The Flash was arrested in Hawaii on charges of harassment and disorderly conduct after a fight with a couple at a local bar during a karaoke night. Miller allegedly shouted obscenities at the guests and snatched a microphone from one of the women’s hands. The couple involved applied for a restraining order against Miller but later withdrew the application.
On Tuesday, Hawaii News Now reported that Ezra Miller was arrested again in the state less than three weeks after the previous incident.
Police reportedly confirmed the news to the station and issued a statement saying the actor was arrested for second-degree assault. The announcement came as the actor was due to appear in court on Tuesday to enter a plea to charges of harassment and disorderly conduct.
According to a police statement, the latest arrest was made after patrol officers in Pune responded to a report of an assault at a residence. Police stated that Ezra Miller allegedly “became irate after being asked to leave and reportedly threw a chair, striking a 26-year-old female on the forehead, resulting in an approximate half-inch cut.” The unnamed female victim refused medical attention, and although Miller left the scene, authorities found and arrested him shortly afterwards. Miller was released hours later, pending further investigation.
Miller also came under fire in 2020 when a video was uploaded online showing the Hollywood star apparently choking a woman and pushing her to the ground.
However, Ezra Miller has not been arrested or criminally charged over the incident. However, it has sparked a lot of criticism of Miller online, with some people calling for him to be removed from his role as Flash in the DCEU. Miller’s arrest in March has also sparked new rumours that Warner Bros. may be looking to replace Miller as The Flash in the DCEU for this problematic behaviour, although the studio denies this.
On the big screen, Ezra Miller is perhaps best known for his work in the Fantastic Beasts films, the latest episode of which recently debuted. In addition to this, and of course, his character in The Flash, it is worth mentioning his memorable performances in a few smaller budget films, such as We Need to Talk About Kevin and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
As for The Flash, many fans are excited about it as it delves deep into the DCEU multiverse.
It was previously revealed that Michael Keaton would be joining Miller’s Barry Allen, reprising his classic role as Batman from the Tim Burton films. The DCEU’s current Batman, Ben Affleck, will also appear in the movie to bid farewell to the character’s incarnation. Affleck has previously stated that the scenes he filmed with Ezra Miller in The Flash are some of the best work he has done as the character of Batman.
The Flash is scheduled to hit theatres on June 23, 2023.
