Game Boy Games For Switch Are Said To Be Compatible With The N64!

TECH NEWS – More and more signs and hints appear that Switch Online Game Boy games will be compatible with the N64 within Nintendo Switch Online.

A post by Emily Rogers on Famiboard claims that Nintendo has attempted to emulate the connection between the N64 and Game Boy games on Nintendo Switch Online:

“Nintendo tested multiple N64 games for Game Boy connectivity. Back in September 2021, I talked about Pokémon Stadium being one of those potential games.”

Pokémon Stadium has never been released on Virtual Console, but a tweet said that it could be included in the “compatibility project”, as the tweet said that it is possible to import Pokémon from Game Boy games to N64 and that it will be possible to do the same for Nintendo Switch Online, or more accurately, it is theoretically in the cards.

Alongside Rogers, data collector LuigiBlood confirmed that there is indeed a reference to Transfer Pak support in the code of the current N64 Switch Online app, just not in the coding of the games, but in the on/off switch. A data miner called MondoMega has come up with similar news, claiming that more than 40 games are listed (even as references) in the leaked Game Boy Advance emulator files.

But will these games run on the Game Boy Nintendo Switch Online service? No clear answer has been received from anyone yet. For now, it’s all speculation on the leaked emulator files circulating on social media. What we do know is that two of these Switch emulators are named “Hiyoko” (for Game Boy) and “Sloop” (for Game Boy Advance).
