MOVIE NEWS – “Grow the f**k up Johnny!” said Amber Heard sweetly after admitting on tape that she had punched Johnny Depp, who said he would never want to return to the role of Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean after that…
The marriage between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp lasted just a year and a half, but the legal nuclear war between the two is still going strong. A few days ago, the actor told a court that Disney could offer him nothing to convince him to return to his iconic role as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Depp made this admission during cross-examination in his defamation lawsuit against Heard, in which he is suing his ex-girlfriend for $50 million.
“The fact is, Mr. Depp, if Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film? Correct?” Amber Heard’s lawyer Ben Rottenborn asked Depp during the proceedings.
“That is true, Mr. Rottenborn,” Depp replied.
Depp is suing his ex-wife, Amber Heard, for defamation after she detailed the alleged abuse she suffered in a 2018 article in the Washington Post. Although she never mentions Johnny Depp by name, the actor believes the article did significant damage to his career, which cost him the role of Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
“I would be a real simpleton to not think that there was an effect on my career based on Ms. Heard’s words, whether they mentioned my name or not,” Depp said, adding that he believes his career was “done” from “the second the allegations were made against me.”
“Once that happened, I lost then,” the actor continued.
“No matter the outcome of this trial, I’ll carry that for the rest of my days… I’m suing her over defamation and the various falsities that she used to bring my life to an end.”
In his statement, Johnny Depp explained that despite Disney maintaining the Jack Sparrow image across all channels of the franchise, he himself was cast as the villain. “They didn’t remove my character from the rides,” he said. “They didn’t stop selling dolls of Captain Jack Sparrow. They didn’t stop selling anything. They just didn’t want there to be something trailing behind me that they’d find.”
Heard hit, but not punched?
On the following day of the trial, even more shocking information was released. In an audio recording, presumably made by Johnny Depp of an argument with Heard, the actress admitted that she had punched her ex-lover.
The recording, played for the jury, was the first time Heard’s voice was heard – she will testify in the case later. In one clip, Heard tells Depp: “I didn’t punch you. I’m sorry I didn’t hit you across the face in a proper slap. I was hitting you, it was not punching you.”
After polemicising for a while about what constitutes a punch, Heard – who seems to be no stranger to verbal abuse – , even kindly slapped me:
“You’re a fu**ng baby!”
Heard continued, shouting: “You are such a baby! Grow the f**k up Johnny!”
When confronted by Johnny Depp on the tape that there had been a physical altercation, Heard admitted: “I did start a physical fight.”
Moreover, it was just one in a long line of aggressive displays by Amber Heard during the lengthy trial day. On another occasion, according to Depp, she kicked the bathroom door in his head; on another, she broke his nose and even cut off a piece of his finger when he threw an empty bottle at the former Pirates of the Caribbean star.
There was ample evidence of all this – photos, hospital records – from Johnny Depp, whose accusations seem to be confirmed by witness testimony. Of course, the case is far from over: we will soon hear Amber Heard’s side of the story.
For those who want to read more on the subject, I recommend the Daily Mail’s excellent summary of all the cases and the motivations of both sides – see link one below!

"i stayed with her because I DIDN'T WANT TO FAIL. i thought I could HELP her. I didn't want to break her heart. I remember my mother's first attempt at suicide, a direct result of my father' leaving. Amber Heard spoke of suicide if I left."
