Red Dead Redemption Remake To Be Made With Unreal Engine 5?! [VIDEO]

A stunning concept video imagines what a possible Red Dead Redemption remake would look like if powered by Unreal Engine 5.

Often hailed as a masterpiece of the open-world genre, the original Red Dead Redemption received widespread critical acclaim upon its release for its authentic Wild West feel and compelling story – not to mention a hugely successful sequel. At the time of writing, the game is officially available only on PS3 and Xbox 360, with the Xbox 360 version also available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles thanks to backwards compatibility, but rumours of a major comeback are rife.

Rockstar Games’ parent company Take-Two Interactive has not hidden the fact that it plans to make more video game remakes and remasters in the coming years.

If the rumours are to be believed, the original Red Dead Redemption is part of those talks. There are unconfirmed reports that a complete remake or remaster may be in the works, but at the time of writing, nothing has been announced.

While fans wait for more information on the long-rumoured Red Dead Redemption remake, they can watch the video by YouTuber ENFANT TERRIBLE to get an idea of what it might look like if it ever materialises.

The video uses footage from various Unreal Engine 5 projects to create a concept trailer for the game. It looks incredibly stunning, proving that a Red Dead Redemption remake on modern consoles would have the potential to have genuinely stunning visuals. Of course, Rockstar Games probably wouldn’t use Unreal Engine 5 if they were making a Red Dead remake, but we could still expect a similar visual experience.

Unreal Engine 5 and its capabilities have been in the spotlight a lot lately, with a number of upcoming games using the engine.

It may be a while before it becomes the norm for new game releases, but in the meantime, artists have put together their own Unreal Engine 5 concept videos, showing what games like Skyrim would look like in Unreal Engine 5, and made their own demos.

One of the most spectacular demonstrations of Unreal Engine 5 in video game form so far has been The Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 experience, which was released last year alongside The Matrix: Rise of the Matrix movie. It was actually playable to an extent, although that only scratches the surface of what the engine is capable of. The years ahead promise to be exciting as more and more games are powered by Unreal Engine 5.
