Is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Coming To PlayStation Plus?

There’s a chance that in July, Insomniac Games’ PlayStation 5 exclusive will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.

The switch has now been made in each region, so PlayStation Plus now has three subscription tiers (Essential, Extra, Premium), so we in Europe have also said goodbye to the original line-up (and PlayStation Now is gone, as it’s been ‘merged’ into PS Plus). The Essential category is the equivalent of the old PlayStation Plus. We’re betting that the July line-up will be leaked on Monday or Tuesday (which we’ll report on as scheduled on Wednesday afternoon).

But something suspicious popped up on the French PlayStation Plus Premium website, which was then shared on Reddit, and we’ve neatly tucked it under this bunch of characters. According to Sony’s website, it looks like PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers could be in for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (the difference between the two categories is streaming retro games [PlayStation 3] and locally-running PS1, PS2 and PSP titles, in addition to the demos you can try), which would give subscribers a fair title if Sony hasn’t pushed itself too hard on the free games provided at the Essential level this year.

Of course, this is not official, as Sony hasn’t said anything about it yet. We’re hoping to have a complete overview of the updates in Wednesday’s post, so we should be able to find out not only what PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers will get but also what titles will be added to the retro games catalogue and what PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 downloadable titles are in store (the latter of which is for PlayStation Plus Extra and up). However, seeing that the image below comes from Sony, it’s probably worth thinking about, as PlayStation Plus was leaked from a French source repeated for at least half a year without any hiccups.

Be patient, then, as we’ll find out what’s in store for the next PlayStation Plus update within days.
