Let’s ask Sony: why can’t they just do one post a month announcing what they’re adding to their three-tier service?!
The announcement of PlayStation Plus Essential, or the old PS Plus games, has been kept to the Wednesday before the first Tuesday of the month (we write it that way because there were cases of the announcement happening on the first… ), but there’s the mid-tier PlayStation Plus Extra, where you can access PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games, while PlayStation Plus Premium runs PS1, PS2 and PSP titles locally and streams PS3 games to you from the cloud (although rumours are strongly suggesting there will be local emulation…).
Sony will likely announce PlayStation Plus/Extra titles in the middle of the month, which we think is stupid because it would be a better idea to have everything in one place so that you don’t have to search for what extras players with higher subscription tiers can expect. The ResetEra forum has popped up with what PlayStation Plus Extra offerings could be boosted with. This user is nowhere near the level of billbil-kun on the French website, Dealabs (who’s been pulling a trend of seeing the list a day or two before the official announcement, and we just need to update our original post!), but let’s give it a shot.
According to this person, Stray, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Unity, Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry, Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, and Saints Row IV: Re-Elected are all coming to the service, and it looks like the PlayStation Plus Premium expansion will be announced by Sony at the same time, and since there’s no game in that category on the list, we don’t know what’s coming there. According to the leaker, the update is due on July 19.
Insomniac Games, meanwhile, tweeted about Resistance 2, so it’s a chance that it will be one of the PlayStation Plus Premium games, but ResetEra found LocoRoco Midnight Carnival for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. Since it’s a PSP title, chances are it will expand the lineup, and maybe Ridge Racer 2, also on PSP, will get in (since it still hasn’t happened yet and has already been found…).
All this is not official yet.
