We’ve been waiting a long time for the announcement of Bayonetta 3, which has finally happened. Among other things, the platform and the release date were revealed from the trailer.
Bayonetta 3 will be released as a Nintendo Switch exclusive on October 28, Nintendo and PlatinumGames announced on Wednesday. The game’s new trailer also reveals new details about the long-awaited action game, including that it will feature multiple Bayonettas and a playable “witch trainer” named Viola.
Viola is described as Bayonetta’s “combative” ally, and will bring a sword and the cat demon Cheshire with her to battle the Homunculi. Bayonetta herself will have the new Demon Masquerade ability, which allows her to summon giant creatures (such as a nasty tarantula monster) to aid her in battle.
In addition to the regular edition of Bayonetta 3, Nintendo is also offering the Trinity Masquerade Edition at select retailers and its own My Nintendo Store. This version will include a 200-page art book and three toy bags that feature translation art for each title in the trilogy. Pre-order details will be released soon, according to Nintendo.
Originally announced at The Game Awards 2017, the sequel follows 2014’s Bayonetta 2, which was adapted for Nintendo Switch in February 2018 (along with the first Bayonetta). The original Bayonetta is getting a standalone physical release on Switch on September 30th. According to Nintendo, physical copies of Bayonetta will be available in limited quantities for $29.99 at select retailers and through the My Nintendo Store.
