The Saints Row developers have confirmed their preload plans for all platforms, though there’s some bad news for PC Epic Games Store users.
Not counting remasters and re-releases, it’s been seven years since the last Saints Row main series game hit the market. Fortunately for franchise fans, the release of the Saints Row reboot is only a few days away, the game will be released on August 23. Those who are eagerly waiting for the game may want to prepare themselves with a pre-load, and now the pre-load information for the game on the different platforms it will be available on has been revealed.
Saints Row will be released on August 23rd at 12pm local time. Those on Xbox can preload Saints Row right now, while those on PlayStation will be able to preload the game 48 hours earlier. This means that the Saints Row PlayStation preload will launch either late tonight or sometime on August 21st. That’s good news for console gamers (especially since Saints Row’s file size ranges from 53-60GB depending on the platform), but those planning to play the game on PC via the Epic Games Store are out of luck.
#SaintsRow will launch on all platforms, world wide at midnight on August 23 wherever you are!
Preload is available on PlayStation 48 hours before, and on Xbox right now!
Unfortunately pre-load has not been possible on Epic Games due to some technical stuff – sorry! pic.twitter.com/oUP078qAbJ

It has been confirmed that there will be no preload options for Saints Row on the Epic Games Store. It was said to be due to “some technical issues”, although no specifics were given beyond that. PC gamers hoping to play Saints Row as soon as it releases may be especially disappointed by this development, as it can only be played on PC via EGS. Saints Row is an Epic Games Store exclusive, so fans will have to wait a long time to play the game on Steam.
PC players waiting for the Steam version of Saints Row will have to wait until at least 2023 to play the game on that platform. An exact date for Saints Row’s Epic Games Store exclusivity has not been announced, but it has been confirmed that the Steam version will launch sometime in 2023. It’s likely that Saints Row’s Epic Games Store exclusivity will last at least half a year to a year, so while it’s possible that fans will be able to play the game on Steam in early 2023, the more likely scenario is that the Steam version will be released at least a year later.
Epic Games Store exclusivity has been a hot topic since the release of Epic’s launcher. There is no denying that Steam is the number one platform for PC gamers, so Epic Games is aggressively trying to take a part of the market away from Valve and its store. One way he did this was by acquiring exclusive games for the Epic Games Store and regularly giving away free games.
Saints Row will be released on August 23rd for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
We are already testing the game on PlayStation 5 thanks to the Magnew code from the distributor, and our review is expected to be ready by Monday afternoon. Are you looking forward to the game, or will the series’ reboot leave you cold? Write it in the comments!
