MOVIE NEWS – Until now, it was said that Tom Cruise would leave the series after Mission: Impossible 7-8, but director Christopher McQuarrie has a different opinion.
But McQuarrie knows something. In 2011, he got into the series by being asked to turbocharge the script of the fourth part of the series, Phantom Protocol, and he already directed the next two parts (M:I – Secret Nation, M :I – Aftermath), as in 7-8. part too.
The screenwriter-director said in a podcast the other day (reported by Variety) that you don’t have to believe everything that is believed to be reliable information in or around the industry. McQuarrie warns that if a “source close to the production” is listed as the starting point of the information, it should be suspicious, because it is likely that someone is trying to steer for some reason, and there is no way to know exactly what that reason might be. It’s best to wave at such and laugh the whole thing off, because 17 minutes later another piece of false information starts circulating.
At the same time, McQuarrie does not say definitively that Cruise will stay, he only warns of caution, and obviously that is all he can say about the matter. MI:8 will be released in the summer of 2024, and until then Cruise has plenty of time to decide if he wants to play Ethan Hunt again.
