MOVIE NEWS – Johnny Depp’s special appearance at the VMAs received some criticism, including from Amber Heard’s sister Whitney Henriquez.
Unlike Amber Heard’s sister, many fans were happy to see Johnny Depp return to television with a special cameo at the MTV Video Music Awards, but others were surprised to see him appear in this form. Shortly after the show, Amber Heard’s sister Whitney Henriquez posted a screenshot of the official awards logo on Instagram, although she put a “D” in front of “VMA”, referring to domestic violence. Henriquez also wrote “I stand with Amber Heard” on the photo, next to Heard’s picture and a message condemning MTV.
“MTV you’re disgusting and clearly desperate! I really hope that none of the people that made this call have daughters…” wrote Henriquez, in all caps.
It was Depp’s first television appearance since his libel trial with Heard went on air. Depp emerged victorious, with the verdict heavily tilted in his favour, as the jury agreed that Heard’s domestic violence allegations were false. The ruling seemed to have been in Depp’s favour, given that his appearance on MTV was widely applauded, despite criticism from Henriquez and others.
Depp is also working intensively on his music and plans to tour again in 2023 with his band, the Hollywood Vampires.
As for the film world, it was recently revealed that he would lead the cast of the upcoming French drama Jeanne du Barry and direct an Amedeo Modigliani biopic, with Al Pacino producing.
