Microsoft Has Started to Cancel STALKER 2 Reservations Due to Doubts About the Release Date

Some users have received a message from the Xbox Store stating that their STALKER 2 payments will be refunded in full.

Several months have passed since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, meaning thousands of people still have to deal with the daily life of a life that has been changed forever. In this sad context, the GSC Game World team continues the development of STALKER 2, which was obviously forced to pause development and postpone the release date due to the war.

The reason for the cancellations is that STALKER 2 has been postponed to an “unconfirmed future date.” The studio has planned the premiere of the shooter for the first half of 2023, but it is clear that there is still a lot of uncertainty around the release date, which may slip further due to the situation around the developer. As a result, Xbox has begun canceling STALKER 2 pre-orders and refunding users who ordered the game through the official store.

According to footage shared by Polish outlet XGP, which shows a message received by players who have reserved shipping, Xbox would have made this decision because the release of STALKER 2 has been postponed to an “unconfirmed future date”. At the end of the day, it should not be forgotten that several of the developers of GSC Game World are unable to work on the game because they are fighting in the war.

The context around GSC Game World is really frustrating, but the members still want to excite their fans with pictures and details of their project. That’s why in recent weeks we’ve seen new enemies and screenshots that show the possibilities of Unreal Engine 5.
