The official title of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 will reportedly be revealed at the upcoming Nintendo Direct.
Nintendo is expected to reveal the official title of the highly anticipated sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at the upcoming Nintendo Direct. Nintendo Switch fans have been begging Nintendo for years to give them more information about the mysteriously missing Breath of the Wild sequel. When Breath of the Wild 2 is released in 2023, it will be the longest ever between main series Zelda releases.
Last week, news emerged that the planned Nintendo Direct had been postponed due to the death of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.
A subsequent report then confirmed that the Nintendo Direct would be held later this week. According to the news, the show will air either Tuesday or Wednesday, before the Tokyo Game Show convention starts on Thursday.
Since then, more details have emerged about this Nintendo Direct. In a livestream with Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, sources have reportedly confirmed that several Zelda-related announcements are planned for the Nintendo Direct. The most prominent announcement will be the unveiling of the actual name of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, as well as The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask getting its own title, despite being a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
It may seem odd that a title for the sequel to Breath of the Wild has not yet been confirmed, although that would make sense if Nintendo is simply holding back capitalising on the branding success of Breath of the Wild.
One rumoured title, in particular, is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Duality, which has sparked considerable speculation among fans.
The title of the sequel to Breath of the Wild is not the only Zelda news rumoured to be planned for the upcoming Nintendo Direct. Information is also expected regarding the HD port of Wii U Zelda games to Nintendo Switch. These would include The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
To be clear, while Grubb’s report is reliable on this topic, it’s not a sure thing either. So far, no official Nintendo Direct has even been announced, let alone any Zelda news. Grubb also reported that this Nintendo Direct has been in the works since January 2022. This will be the first full Nintendo Direct since then.

OK. It does sound like the Direct is still on. If it gets moved around, it will probably be a very minor adjustment. Expect it early next week.
