Razer Edge: Here’s The Price & Everything We Know About The 5G Handheld Console!

TECH NEWS – Razer, in partnership with Qualcomm and Verizon, has officially announced the Razer Edge, a new handheld console fully optimised for 5G.

Razer has officially unveiled the Razer Edge and announced the price and stats for the new handheld gaming system. Razer has also made a barrel of new announcements at this year’s Razercon 2022, of which this device is one of the most exciting.

During his keynote speech at Razercon 2022, Razer’s annual event showcasing its latest products and announcing special news, Richard Hashim, head of Razer’s mobile and console division, officially announced the Razer Edge handheld. Claiming that “with the Razer Edge, we have created the ultimate handheld gaming platform”, designed to deliver an all-in-one experience, with 5G and Wi-Fi versions available. The console will be released in the US sometime in January. The price of the 5G version has not yet been announced.

However, the Wi-Fi-only model comes with a price tag of $399.99, and the Founders Edition comes with a price tag of $499.99, which includes the Razer Hammerhead True Wireless headset.

Both configurations of the handheld console will come with a Razer Kishi V2 Pro controller that uses advanced haptic feedback, similar to the PS5 controller, and will be capable of running “thousands of AAA games”, including Android games, and will have access to the Epic Games Store, remote gaming apps, as well as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now apps. Razer has teamed up with Qualcomm to deliver the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 chipset for unparalleled Android gaming performance.

The Razer Edge boasts a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 2400×1080 resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, delivering smooth response time, excellent colour contrast, extended viewing angle and surprisingly economical battery life.

The Razer Edge seemingly offers gamers a lot to get excited about.

For now, of course, the question is whether it will hold its own against Valve’s popular Steam Deck or the highly successful Nintendo Switch. With a price point similar to its competitors and the first fully dedicated 5G handheld offering running on Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband, the Razer Edge could be a game changer that could spark new developments for other handheld systems to keep up.

The console is available for pre-order on Razer’s website with a $5 deposit.
