MOVIE NEWS – Filming of Glass Onion: Knives Out Mystery took place under strict quarantine, and the film’s actors decided to make the best of it.
The cast of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery managed to come up with a very stylish way to pass the time outside of filming the upcoming sequel. Even the director, Rian Johnson, got in on the act, and he turned the confinement that oppresses Covid into a much more pleasant experience if a little morbidly.
According to several members of the star cast of Glass Onion: Knives Out Mystery, they regularly got together for a murder mystery game night in their spare time at their shared hotel. Everyone was said to be in on the fun, which made for plenty of excitement during what was otherwise a fairly dull period. Johnson himself started the games and from the very first moment everyone was fully involved in the fun.
Speaking to Deadline, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery star Janelle Monáe said how enthusiastic they were: “[Rian Johnson] left a handwritten, medieval-style note under our hotel room door that read, ‘ You have been invited…””. To be sure, it seems typical of Johnson to put so much effort into such authenticity. Given his attention to detail in films like Out of Knives and The Last Jedi, it’s clear that he’s passionate about what he does. But he’s not the only one.
Daniel Craig, who plays detective Benoit Blanc in Knives Out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, also expressed his joy and even detailed his strategy. “I’m a very good actor – he said correctly. “I was just there for the joy of playing. My game plan was basically to always look like the bad guy.” “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf,” he said. “I thought, ‘Maybe we shouldn’t have spouses in this play…'”.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is the long-awaited follow-up to Johnson’s 2019 murder mystery Knives Out, seemingly introducing the classic genre to a whole new audience with its big-name cast and truly surprising twists. In the sequel, Craig’s charismatic detective Benoit Blanc again tries to solve the central mystery, although the rest of the characters are completely new, there are no other returning actors, but this does not mean that they are not as captivating and enjoyable as in the previous film.
According to newly released character details for The Onion, the story’s protagonists will come together as a group of old acquaintances to play a seemingly harmless murder mystery game. Suddenly, Johnson and the cast’s chosen pastime sounds even better. Fans will soon be able to see how well their chemistry works together.
Onion: Knives Out Mystery will be in theaters from November and will land on Netflix on December 23, 2022.
