Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Players Demand Refunds

Several disgruntled Pokemon fans are asking for refunds after playing the newly released Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games.

Some Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fans are asking for refunds after playing the latest games in the series. Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokemon Company first announced Pokemon Scarlet and Violet last February. Many were surprised to see new Pokemon games coming soon after the release of Pokemon Legends: After Arceus. Since then, there has been a lot of hype about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, fans have been looking at every single trailer, image and information that has been released about the games.

Unfortunately, the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet did not meet the expectations of many. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are the worst-reviewed main series Pokemon games in the series’ history (excluding “third” games such as Pokemon Emerald and remakes such as Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl), with many critics slamming the games performance. Some have blamed the aging Nintendo Switch hardware for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s reprehensible visuals and numerous technical issues, while others have placed the blame on developer Game Freak.

Regardless of why Pokemon Scarlet and Violet turned out the way they did, the games are in such a state that some Pokemon fans have decided to ask for refunds. In a number of posts on social media, Pokemon fans have either requested refunds for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, or have successfully refunded the purchase of the games. Others continued to share clips of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s performance issues and asked people not to buy the games at all to send a message to Game Freak and Nintendo about fan expectations for the franchise.
