Sony and Honda have not ignored Tesla’s idea (gaming in the car), and the two companies are responding.
Sony Honda Mobility was formed in September, and the joint company plans to have its first electric vehicle available in America by 2025. A statement to the Financial Times suggests that Sony could use its experience in entertainment content services to help Honda compete against rivals. According to the company’s president, Izumi Kawanishi (formerly of Sony’s robotics division), it would be technologically possible to integrate PlayStation 5 into cars!
After all, Sony has the knowledge around content services that Tesla doesn’t, and Kawanishi sees a chance to beat them. However, it doesn’t just mean installing a PlayStation 5 in Honda’s electric cars, as the company wants to design a vehicle that can offer Sony’s entertainment and network services. Sony and Honda also invest in perfect autonomous driving, and nobody has yet achieved perfection. (In other words, our car could drive from here to there…)
Meanwhile, PlayStation Plus Extra has quietly removed another game. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana has been removed, despite claims to the contrary on the service’s website: the PlayStation Store lists a price of $40 with no mention of any PlayStation Plus options. Whether you’re looking at PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4, there’s no way to download the game with PS Plus. The problem with PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium at the end of October was that Sony removed the ‘expiry date,’ which the company then put back.
