Infinity Ward May Dedicate A Campaign To One Of The Popular Modern Warfare Characters?!

Infinity Ward is working on a Ghost-focused campaign, according to a source who has confirmed it with reliable Call of Duty leaks.

Fans of the iconic and enigmatic Ghost of the Call of Duty franchise will soon be able to find out more about the British SAS elite commando. According to a new leak, Infinity Ward could be working on a Ghost-focused campaign. The fearsome operator has already appeared in several entries in the franchise. Among others, he appeared as a multiplayer skin in the underrated Call of Duty: Ghosts. He has become perhaps one of the most recognisable characters in the Call of Duty series.

Simon “Ghost” Riley first appeared as an NPC in 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. He quickly became a popular character among Call of Duty players thanks to his trademark skull-shaped mask and uncompromising attitude in combat.

He was a big hit with fans of the series, despite being killed off at the end of Modern Warfare 2. Ghost appeared in several franchise games and was a playable character in the mobile game Call of Duty: Heroes. Player interest in the deadly and efficient operator reached new heights earlier this month when a leak revealed Ghost’s face.

In a new story published on WhatIfGaming, writer Ralph Valve, famous for revealing accurate Call of Duty leaks, claimed that Infinity Ward could be working on a Ghost-focused campaign.

Valve claims that an IW staffer told him developers there approached Ghost actor Samuel Roukin with a proposal to “develop his character beyond the boxed release”. These conversations, if they happened, do not serve as definitive evidence. However, they may hint that a Ghost-focused game is in the works. They certainly imply that we haven’t seen the last of the iconic cinematographer.

In discussing the alleged leak, Valve clarifies that it is still unclear what form, if any, a Ghost spin-off would take.

A new “full premium edition” Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II expansion is reportedly in the works at Infinity Ward. This is expected to be released sometime in 2023. It’s possible that Ghost could take centre stage in the story. Including Ghost as one of the main characters in the future DLC would fit with other leaked information mentioned in the report. According to this, the 2023 expansion will take a closer look at some iconic characters from the series.

The intimidating skull mask has become one of the most recognisable pieces of Call of Duty iconography. Unsurprisingly, Infinity Ward might finally want to put Ghost at the centre of it.
