Street Fighter 6’s Release Date Has Been Leaked Rather Stupidly! [VIDEO]

Capcom can hold its head now because it is probably not how the Japanese company wanted its audience to find out when the latest Street Fighter title would arrive.

Capcom has Sony to thank for the Street Fighter 6 pre-order page on the PlayStation Store, where the Japanese company has placed a release date that doesn’t appear to be a provisional placeholder date, as it falls on a Friday. Below we’ve also embedded a video from the PlayStation Store page, but we also included a better-quality image.

So, according to the leak, Street Fighter 6 will be released in three editions. The base version will include six characters in the 10th color of their first outfit, along with special badges and stickers. That wasn’t a typo: first costume, tenth color, six characters. It gives us the feeling that the Japanese company will monetize it heavily… when it’s almost a given that all the colors and outfits will be on the game disc. A decade ago, they were the reason the term “on-disc DLC” became infamous when they charged money for access to content already on the game disc.

Street Fighter 6’a Deluxe Edition will add to this with a season pass with the characters for the first year (they call it a character pass), but there is an Ultimate Edition where the first-year ultimate pass replaces the character pass. We have no idea what the difference is between the two, but it could be the equivalent of a paid battle pass in a free-to-play game (e.g., Overwatch 2, Fortnite). All three editions have a specific release date listed!

According to the PlayStation Store, Street Fighter 6 will be released on June 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam, almost guaranteed to use Denuvo), and PlayStation 4. The game will have another closed beta test soon: this is scheduled to run from December 16 to 19.
