Cyberpunk 2077: Useful Feature Will Be Temporarily Suspended?!

Cyberpunk 2077 temporarily disables a helpful feature for reasons related to a completely different CD Projekt Red game.

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will temporarily disable automatic cloud backup uploads. The limitation of the open-world sci-fi action game is necessary due to the upcoming release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s next-gen update.

Early problems with Cyberpunk 2077 are well documented; the game launched in poor enough condition for CD Projekt Red to offer a refund.

Those still playing the game today should know that CD Projekt Red will disable cloud autosave uploads from noon CET on 13 December. CD Projekt Red has explained that this is a precautionary measure. It is related to the next-gen update of The Witcher 3 and the expected increase in traffic on the company’s servers at that time. No timetable was given for when the game’s cloud uploads will return to automatic backups. However, it is difficult to imagine that the feature will be unavailable for a significant time.

Players can save their games in other ways while they wait for automatic backups to upload to the cloud. Many people still play Cyberpunk 2077 regularly and can take advantage of this feature, so they will be happy when it is restored. Others may be discovering the game for the first time and are finally giving it a chance because of the updates and success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Still, others may return to it to prepare for the DLC. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is a paid expansion coming to the open-world game next year.

Not much has been revealed about the DLC for now, but players will be able to explore new areas and meet new characters, including one played by celebrated actor Idris Elba.

Those who haven’t yet immersed themselves in Cyberpunk 2077 might want to wait until next year. Not only will the game get the Phantom Liberty DLC expansion, but a Game of the Year Edition will apparently be released at some point. The exact details of this, including a possible price, are not yet known at the time of writing.
