MOVIE NEWS – Tom Cruise thanks fans for supporting Top Gun 2 as he casually jumps out of a plane…

 

 

Top Gun: Maverick is the biggest movie of the year, and Tom Cruise has once again made a spectacular gesture of thanks. In a video posted online by Cruise and Paramount Pictures, the intrepid actor addresses the camera from inside a plane. While filming Mission: Impossible in South Africa, Cruise talks about Maverick and how the sequel has been a massive hit at the box office. And he couldn’t be happier, as he’s already back at the top of his game, working on his next project.

“I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theaters,” Cruise says in the footage. “Thank you for supporting Top Gun: Maverick!”

At this point, director Christopher McQuarrie taps Cruise on the shoulder to remind him that Mission: Impossible is being filmed. After McQuarrie declines the offer to join him on the way down, Cruise casually throws himself backwards and ejects from the plane. Speeding towards the ground, Cruise continues:

“Where was I? Oh yeah, thank you for supporting Top Gun: Maverick,” Cruise says. “As always, thank you for allowing us to entertain you. It truly is the honor of a lifetime.”

Before the wind blows him away, Cruise wishes everyone a “very safe and happy holiday” before adding, “we’ll see you at the movies!”

The special announcement also hinted that Top Gun: Maverick is coming to Paramount+’s streaming platform. Many of Paramount’s other releases have come to the streaming service approximately 45 days after the theatrical release, but that was not the case for the Top Gun sequel. Because fans just don’t want to stop going to the cinema to see the film. The success also made Maverick the highest-grossing movie of 2022. As well as making over $1.4 billion at the box office, the film has received excellent reviews, with some critics even enjoying it more than the acclaimed original.

Top Gun: Maverick opens on Paramount+ on 22 December 2022.
