God Of War TV Series Will Be “Incredibly True” To Source Material, Says Amazon

MOVIE NEWS – “If you never played the game, you will fall in love with the show and feel very much invited in,” says the Amazon boss.

Amazon Studios is developing a God of War TV series inspired by the PlayStation game series. A company boss has now promised that the series will be faithful to the source material.

Vernon Sanders, the head of Amazon Studios’ TV division, told Collider that the God of War TV series would be about “fathers and sons”, referring to Kratos and his son Atreus. This dynamic will take place in a “giant epic landscape,” Sanders revealed.

What the showrunners and writers have come up with for the God of War TV series is “incredibly true to the source material, and also compelling on its own,” Sanders said.

He added: “If you never played the game, you will fall in love with the show and feel very much invited in. So we think it’s going to be huge.”

Rafe Judkins of Wheel of Time fame is the showrunner for the TV series. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who wrote Iron Man and Child of Man, are the writers and executive producers of the series. Cory Barlog, who directed the 2018 God of War, is also an executive producer.

Amazon recently ordered the series. No cast has been announced yet. However, Christopher Judge, who plays Kratos in the game series, is lobbying to play the character in the series.

In addition to the God of War TV series, Amazon Studios is also developing a Fallout TV series, which Jonathan Nolan and Westworld director Lisa Joy are producing.

As for the game series, Ragnarök sold 5 million copies in its first week! It became the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation game of all time.
