PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers will lose access to four games in January 2023 as Sony updates its game catalog every month.
In January 2023, Sony will remove four games from the catalog available to PS Plus Extra subscribers. PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members get access to new games every month, and users can play these titles as long as they are part of the collection. However, after exiting the service, subscribers will no longer be able to play these games unless they purchase them.
PS Plus Extra expanded the library with 17 games in December 2022, and another title will join it in January. This list includes Far Cry 5, Judgment, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire – Ultimate Edition, Worms W.M.D. and much more. WWE 2K22 is coming to PS Plus Extra on January 3, but only the PS4 version of the game will be added. Sony has now also published the list of games leaving PS Plus in January 2023.
Bound by Flame, Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom, The Council – The Complete Season and Space Hulk: Tactics are leaving PS Plus Extra, according to updates on their respective PlayStation Store pages. Fans can see a confirmation that these games are part of the PS Plus catalog, but the line just below that says the offer is only valid until January 17, 2023. So PS Plus members interested in these four games have roughly a month to complete their playthroughs.

- The Council – The Complete Season
- Shineness: The Lightning Kingdom
- Space Hulk: Tactics
Sony frequently updates the PlayStation Store with the same warning when a game leaves PS Plus. As a recent example, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s updated store page confirmed that the game will be leaving PS Plus Extra on December 20th. The same was true when Soma left the service in October 2022.
Even though the four games are leaving PS Plus, members will soon be able to try new ones as the library will be updated on December 20th. The games coming to PS Plus Extra in December are quite long, with Yakuza: Like a Dragon requiring players around 45 hours to complete the story. Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire – UItimate Edition is the longest game to join the Extra, and users will need around 69 hours to complete the main story alone.
While PS Plus subscribers will no longer have access to these four titles, users who trigger the monthly free games will be able to play them as long as they remain members. The last list of the year also looks solid, as Sony offered PlayStation Plus subscribers Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Biomutant and Divine Knockout for free in December 2022.
