Did PlayStation Plus Essential’s January Line-Up Already Leaked!?

If it had happened a day or two before the official announcement, we could understand, but five days seems a bit of a mess, with Sony seemingly unable to stop the leaks.

Almost every month this year, the French website Dealabs has seen Billbil-kun name which games PlayStation Plus (then PlayStation Plus Essential after the subscription introduced the tiers) subscribers will be able to add to their game catalogs for free in the coming month. This time, he dropped the list on Twitter, and as he was infallible in 2022, it’s safe to take what he wrote seriously.

According to the leak, the January pull title on PlayStation Plus Essential will be Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order by Respawn Entertainment for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It’s highly likely that Electronic Arts, the game’s publisher, paid Sony to get the word out about the sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which is due in March. The game itself is pretty good, so it’s a fair move. The second game will also be available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4: Axiom Verge 2. This game would therefore be the indie pick of the month.

The third game is given a separate paragraph, even though it’s only available on PlayStation 4. It was one of the worst games of 2018 and often received negative marketing due to the publisher: we can expect Fallout 76 from Bethesda Game Studios. No, the game still hasn’t turned in the key, and yes, it could be the January “why this game?” topic for subscribers. And since Bethesda Game Studios is now part of Xbox Game Studios, we have the juicy situation of talking about a game from a Microsoft-owned studio on a rival platform.

Of course, all of this is unofficial but come at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sony will announce the January trio anyway, and you can bet it will be a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Axiom Verge 2, and Fallout 76 trio.
