PS Plus Premium: Legendary Game Gets A Free Trial On The Service!

PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers will now have a limited time to try one of Sony’s biggest games in 2022, developed in-house.

PlayStation Plus Premium now offers the chance to try one of Sony’s biggest first-party games. In addition to the vast PS5 and PS4 catalogue of games available to PS Plus Extra users, Premium subscribers will also have access to some new features at a higher price.

In addition to the ability to stream PS3 games, PS Plus Premium members can also play a selection of PS1, PS2 and PSP titles.

The game in question is The Last of Us Part I, and PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can play it for two hours at no extra charge. The Last of Us Part I is a complete remake of the original PS3 game and brings the gameplay more in line with the improvements found in The Last of Us Part II. The Last of Us Part I has also received a graphical tune-up and a primary focus on character models.

The original The Last of Us is one of Sony’s most acclaimed games. Although the remake received high scores, it failed to match the standards set by the first game and its sequel. Its hefty $70 price tag was a central talking point among critics and fans. Some users said the improvements did not seem worth the asking price. Since The Last of Us already has a revamped version on PS4 that allows for 60 FPS gameplay, some gamers felt there was no need for the revamp. The funds could have been spent on full remaster versions of Naughty Dog’s older games.

Regardless, PS Plus Premium members who have been on the fence about The Last of Us Part I can now try it out and get hands-on experience of the improvements made to the game.

The Last of Us Part I has a trial period of just two hours. But the duration varies depending on the type of game and the publisher. For example, open-world RPGs such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Horizon Forbidden West both allow players to download a five-hour trial. Other titles, however, only allow users to play for an hour or two.
