Wait, Even More Games Leaving Xbox Game Pass In January?!

Although an official announcement is still pending, it looks like Xbox Game Pass will lose at least four more games by the end of the month.

Xbox Game Pass looks set to lose four more games on January 31. However, no official announcement has been made yet. Game Pass has struggled to get up to speed since the start of the new year, leaving subscribers confused about when to expect announcements.

Although several new Xbox Game Pass titles are coming in January 2023, Microsoft has yet to release its usual blog post detailing these titles for subscribers.

Those same blog posts often mention games that will be leaving the service in January 2023. With no post yet, Xbox Game Pass subscribers aren’t entirely sure which games will leave the offering this month. But some titles that may be leaving have been listed on the Xbox app.

As pointed out by Pure Xbox, Donut County, Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master, Telling Lies, and Worms WMD have been added to the Leaving Soon section of the Xbox app. Assuming that Game Pass sticks to its pattern of removing games, subscribers can expect to see the games removed after January 31. That gives about two weeks for those interested in the games to try them out through the service. As usual, games are available at a 20% discount.

Newly announced Xbox Game Pass titles leaving in January 2023:

  • Donut County
  • Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master
  • Telling Lies
  • Worms WMD

If these games do indeed leave Game Pass on January 31, it will be a sad day for the service. Donut County has been one of the most popular indie games in recent years. Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master is a hit with music/rhythm game fans. Telling Lies is one of Sam Barlow’s FMV-style games, and it certainly has its fans. And turn-based tactics fans will probably be sad to see Worms WMD leave Game Pass.

On the plus side, new games are coming to Xbox Game Pass in the second half of January, with more planned in the coming months.

Barring any delays, 2023 could be the biggest year ever for Xbox Game Pass, so subscribers will have plenty to play even with the games that are being dropped.
