MOVIE NEWS – Chloë Grace Moretz stars in The Peripheral, a sci-fi drama series from the creators of Westworld.
It looks like the Chloë Grace Moretz-starring sci-fi drama The Peripheral – which we wrote about with praise; see our review here – could get a second season on Prime Video.
Based on William Gibson’s bestselling novel of the same name, the series is from Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan’s Kilter Films, which has an overall deal with Amazon Studios.
“We are thrilled to continue the journey into Season Two and delve deeper into the incredible world that Gibson created,” said Joy and Nolan.
In a statement, they continued, “On behalf of Scott Smith, Vincenzo Natali, and the entire team, we’re grateful to our partners at Amazon and, most of all, to the fans.”
Vernon Sanders, Head of Global Television, Amazon Studios, added: “William’s mind-bending story in partnership with the brilliant minds of Scott and Jonathan and Lisa, produced an unforgettable journey for our global audience and we are thrilled with how they embraced the series. We look forward to extending our partnership with Warner Bros. and Kilter Films as this uniquely ambitious series continues to unfold.”
The Peripheral follows the story of Flynne Fisher (Moretz) as she tries to hold the pieces of her fractured family together in a forgotten corner of tomorrow’s America. She is intelligent, ambitious and doomed. She has no future; until the future comes knocking.
The first season, which debuted on October 21, also stars Jack Reynor, Gary Carr, Eli Goree, Louis Herthum, JJ Feild, T’Nia Miller, Charlotte Riley, Alexandra Billings, Adelind Horan, Alex Hernandez, Katie Leung, Julian Moore-Cook, Melinda Page Hamilton, Chris Coy and Austin Rising.
In association with Kilter Films, Amazon Studios and Warner Bros. Television produce the series. Executive producers are Scott B. Smith (A Simple Plan), creator and showrunner, director Vincenzo Natali, Athena Wickham and Steven Hoban, and Joy and Nolan.
