PS Plus subscribers can participate in various Festival of Play activities, including competitions, quizzes and playtests.
Sony has announced a new Festival of Play programme for PlayStation Plus. This unique event will give PS Plus subscribers the chance to earn discounts and special rewards in loyalty programmes. They can also play free game trials. PlayStation 5 owners not participating in the programme can play online for free and try their luck in the competitions.
The PlayStation Plus Festival of Play starts now and runs until 24 February.
Yesterday, Premium or Deluxe subscribers to the programme could test the new God of War: Ragnarok for three hours. Another festival highlight is the unique digital collections available through the PlayStation Stars campaign, PS5’s loyalty programme. Finally, subscribers can also participate in the Double Discount promotion, where they can get more discounts on games if they are PS Plus members.
However, the event will also include some activities for those who do not have a PS Plus subscription.
Anyone with a PlayStation Network account can take part in a competition. In it, players can answer questions about the brand and have a chance to win a Sony Bravia XR OLED 55A75K TV. Also, a Dolby Atmos Soundbar HT-A5000 or a pair of WH-1000XM5 wireless noise-cancelling headphones. In addition, non-subscribers can play online multiplayer games throughout the weekend. Special online competitions will accompany these. According to Sony, these tournaments will include games such as NBA 2K23, Guilty Gear and the very popular FIFA 23.
The festival is part of a more significant effort to get more players to join Sony’s subscription model, PlayStation Plus. By allowing players to play online and participate in tournaments, it is expected that at least some will subscribe. If they do, they will have access to 17 new games on the platform from 21 February. The list of PS Plus games for February includes some pretty big names, such as Horizon Forbidden West, Resident Evil 7, Borderlands 3 and Tekken 7, and some classic PS1 games, such as Harvest Moon: Back to Nature, Wild Arms 2 and Legend of Dragoon.
