Russian forces destroyed the Ukrainian-made Antonov An-225. Now you can help rebuild it by purchasing a $20 Microsoft Flight Simulator DLC pack.
Microsoft Flight Simulator adds the heaviest aircraft ever made to its list. Plus, everyone who purchases the DLC will be supporting the real-world effort to rebuild the plane after it was destroyed by Russian forces at the start of the war in Ukraine.
The world’s heaviest aircraft, the Ukrainian-built Antonov An-225, is available today for $20 in Flight Simulator. Only one of these aircraft was ever built. It was destroyed during a battle at Antonov airfield at the start of the conflict in February 2022. Fortunately, an unfinished example survived to help rebuild it.
At the height of the epidemic, the An-225 was used to transport vital medical supplies.
The aircraft is 84 m long, 18.1 m high and has a wingspan of 88.4 m. Its engines can deliver 229.5 kN of thrust, and the bird can carry a payload of up to 250 000 kg. It has a range of 15 400 km, can fly to an altitude of 11 000 m and has a cruising speed of 850 km/h.
In Microsoft Flight Simulator, players have access to six colour variants, including:
- Antonov Airlines 2010
- Antonov Airlines 2008
- Antonov Airlines 2006
- White
- Xbox Aviators Club
- Aviators Club
The An-225 is available in Microsoft Flight Simulator for PC. All proceeds from the $20 DLC will go to Antonov Corporation to help rebuild the plane in real life and will be available for Xbox and Xbox Cloud Gaming at the end of March.
Microsoft Flight Simulator, as with all Xbox games’ in-game releases, is available on Xbox and PC with Game Pass.
