Lord of the Rings: Elijah Wood to Return as Frodo ?! The Actor Has Revealed the Truth!

MOVIE NEWS – The star of The Lord of the Rings, Elijah Wood revealed whether he would like to play Frodo again in the fantasy series. Fans would surely be happy with such a comeback.

Elijah Wood is best known for his role as Frodo in The Lord of the Rings movies, which brought J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantastic epic to the screen from 2001 onwards. The trilogy was filmed all at once and released in successive years, becoming a huge cultural phenomenon. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King won 11 Oscars, including Best Picture.

Wood spoke to Extra at the premiere of Yellowjackets season 2 about returning to The Lord of the Rings franchise, and responded positively to the question. Although he was not interested in the possibility of a reboot, which might ruin the beloved series, he did not rule out playing Frodo again. And since the actor has already returned to the franchise for the 2013 film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, his words seem sincere. Here are Wood’s comments on returning as Frodo in The Lord of the Rings:

“Reboot… I don’t know about that, but if there were more films that could potentially involve Frodo, I would be in.”

Will The Lord of the Rings franchise bring back Elijah Wood?

The Lord of the Rings franchise has come back to life recently with Amazon’s expensive series The Power of the Rings. And although The Power of the Rings season 2 is likely to debut in 2024, Wood’s Frodo is unlikely to appear on the show. The Power of the Rings takes place during Middle-earth’s Second Age, which spans more than 3,000 years, while Frodo’s time in Bag End takes place late in the Third Age, so the time between events could be too great to include him.

However, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema are planning a large-scale Lord of Rings universe, which would include several movies. The first of these is titled The Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohan and is aimed at anime fans. It will be released in 2023. This will be a prequel film to the original trilogy and will tell the story of the kingdom of Rohan.

Although this would also not allow Wood’s return as Frodo, it is possible that other films will deal with periods where Frodo could have played a role. For example, the flashback seen in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, where Bilbo finds the ring from Gollum. Or a film that would follow Frodo’s last journey to the Grey Havens.

At the moment, it is not known what plans the studio has for the Lord of the Rings universe, but if they ever want to work with Wood again, there would surely be a possibility. The actor seems to be open to this idea and has not forgotten that character who made him so popular with the audience.
