MOVIE NEWS – New leaked images and videos from Star Wars: Andor Season 2 show two prominent buildings. They are likely to be the scene of some political intrigue.
Andor, the Disney Plus series that many fans now rank among the best Star Wars content, is making excellent progress with its second season. Some leaked footage offers a compelling insight into what viewers can expect. Thanks to the filming location, which is set in a rather futuristic-looking location, it’s already apparent that the next season will retain the series’ impeccable sense of style.
Season 2 of Andor will span a much longer period of time, and according to newly leaked footage, at least part of this long Star Wars story will take place in a truly unique-looking part of the city.
That area is Valencia, Spain, with a cultural hub that looks like something out of any sci-fi series or movie. Surreptitious footage and videos captured by nearby onlookers reveal images that could easily be in-universe, given the setting. But where exactly will these scenes take place?
One source is Twitter user Greyhame, who recently posted several excellent glimpses from Valencia. Namely, a group of Imperial stormtroopers can be seen marching towards the imposing cultural centre. Inside the building, you can see many of the dignitaries and wealthy people you would expect to see in such a setting. Another set of images comes from Reddit user untaljordi, who posted them on the Star Wars Leaks subreddit. While these images are less explicit than their Twitter counterparts, they do provide an interesting perspective.
In the Reddit post, the user speculates that one of the shots might show the limousine of Genevieve O’Reilly’s Mon Mothma senator. However, it’s hard to say for sure. The Twitter post is more telling, showing wide-angle shots of the Valencia Cultural Centre with clear pictures of stormtroopers and others. However, the Reddit photos show both of the prominent buildings apparently being used for the new season of Andor.
Obviously, there is some political relevance to the footage shot there, but it’s not certain that it’s just more scenes in the imperial capital of Coruscant.
Some users in Reddit comments suggest that Valencia is being used for scenes set on Mon Mothma’s home planet of Chandrila. This certainly seems to match mentions of the world in various other Star Wars media. It would make sense to introduce new characters in Andor season 2. The series is a political thriller, after all. True, its initial appeal was the story of the radicalisation of Cassian Andor, played by Diego Luna, before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. However, viewers quickly fell in love with many other characters, so much so that Cassian barely appeared in a few episodes. A bold move for a series named after him.
