MOVIE NEWS – Wizards of the Coast is unveiling a new Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair packed with cards based on the characters from Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. In addition, it looks like a classic villain we last mentioned in Stranger Things is returning.
Wizards of the Coast just unveiled the official Secret Lair collaboration between Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Magic: The Gathering. These new Magic: The Gathering cards, based on characters from the upcoming D&D movie, are available for pre-order now.
Secret Lair is a unique Magic: The Gathering product that offers limited-time mini packs of unique cards and alternate art recreations.
Some of these Secret Lairs feature celebrated artists or iconic Magic: The Gathering locations. Others collaborate with other media franchises, such as Street Fighter or Fortnite.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Secret Lair includes six cards. Edgin and his adventuring party make up five of these cards, with the sixth being Forge, the treacherous villain character played by Hugh Grant. Each legendary creature has unique mechanics and fantastic graphics. Doric is even a two-sided transforming creature, which in D&D represents his Wild Shape ability as a Druid.
Players wishing to pre-order the new D&D Secret Lair can do so for $39.99 or $49.99 for the foil versions of the Legendary cards. Secret Lair’s release date is set for March 31 – the same day that Honor Among Thieves officially hits theatres. However, it will only be available until April 23, so fans who want to collect these cards should do so soon.
Will Vecna, the old Dungeons and Dragons enemy, be back?!
It looks like one of the most famous Dungeons and Dragons villains of all time will be making an appearance in the next edition of the popular tabletop role-playing game. According to information revealed at the recent D&D Direct, the classic villain Vecna will return to the game in One D&D.
One D&D 2024 will see the reappearance of Vecna to commemorate the game’s 50-year history. As Polygon spotted during the recent D&D Direct, the famous lich will play an essential role in the transition to the new edition. The new Planescape book, set in the multiplanar city of Sigil, will place Vecna’s return just before the release change. However, details of how this will happen are not yet known.
First appearing in a 1976 supplement, Dungeons and Dragons Supplement 3: Eldritch Wizardry, Vecna is a powerful wizard-king who became a lich and then a god.
Originally from the Greyhawk setting. Eventually, he became so popular that he began appearing in adventures throughout the multiverse. Vecna became so famous that even Stranger Things has a character modelled after her with the same name.
Your opponents will be seeing stars.
