Another Harry Potter Scandal On The Horizon?! TV Series In The Making With Rowling! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – The rumoured Harry Potter TV series adaptation is official, and the author of the books, J.K. Rowling, will executive produce.

After months of rumours and speculation, Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced a Harry Potter TV series. The series will be executive produced by the controversial creator of the franchise, J.K. Rowling.

A Harry Potter TV series has been rumoured for quite some time with HBO, but now it appears that the series will instead be heading to the Max streaming service.

Max is the new name for HBO’s Max. The renaming will take place on May 23. Max will operate similarly to HBO Max but will also include content from the Discovery+ subscription service. Like the other subscription services, an essential part of Max’s strategy will be to convince people to subscribe with exclusive programming, and that’s where the new series comes in.

The J.K. Rowling-led TV series will adapt the novels over ten seasons. Specific details of how this will work are unknown at the time of writing. It is assumed that at least one season of each Potter book will be made into a TV series. The TV series will feature a brand-new cast, but no names have been announced yet.

Given the franchise’s incredible popularity, it’s no surprise that a new TV series is in development. However, some Harry Potter fans are not happy that the series is adapting the books. They don’t want to see iconic roles such as Emma Watson as Hermione Granger and Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter being reprised. They seem to prefer to see an original series set in the Harry Potter universe, but that doesn’t seem to be in the plans.

In truth, the film franchise’s attempts to move away from the books have not gone well.

While the original Fantastic Beasts film was a box office hit and received mostly positive reviews, the same cannot be said for its sequels, which were poorly received and brought in lower box office receipts.

The adaptation of the book series is by far the safest bet. At the same time, Rowling’s divisive personality could still cause severe problems for the series creators. BadSector recently summarised the controversy surrounding the author in an excellent article. Information on the release date, casting and further details of the Harry Potter TV series will emerge in the coming months and years.
