Silent Hill: The Short Message Is Gone From Taiwan’s Game Rating Board Database

Something’s going on behind Konami’s gates because they don’t just make things like it disappear.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about Silent Hill: The Short Message, which Konami hasn’t officially announced. It’s a project we heard about in the context of the Taiwanese age rating committee’s game evaluation. So they’ve seen something, so something is in the works. But now, it’s disappeared from their database. It could mean one of two things: either they rename the project to something else (and therefore, it can’t be found under its previous name), or they abandoned it, so we can’t find it as a possibly playable demo under a different name.

Dusk Golem, who is known to occasionally post reliable information about Resident Evil and Silent Hill IPs, wrote on Twitter, ” As more people wait for more Silent Hill news, there are two tiny updates to bring up that people on Twitter were kind enough to inform me on. Silent Hill: Ascension’s reveal trailer tweet recently started popping up again in Twitter-promoted tweets. Taiwan Games Rating Board, Silent Hill: The Short Message was removed from the database. What does all that mean? Who knows, but it is some recent activity. If you want to be optimistic, it might be a sign that gears are turning to let things happen soon. The Short Message thing may be either good or terrible news. The pessimistic way to look at it is that maybe it was removed because the project was canned. The optimistic way to look at it is that maybe it was taken off because the release date was updated to a later date. To see!”

But this isn’t the only Silent Hill project in the works. Konami has officially announced Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill: Ascension, and Silent Hill F, and we’re looking forward to their release. Of these, the Polish Bloober Team’s project, a remake of the iconic Silent Hill 2, will probably be the first to be released, and it’s not out of the question that it will happen this year for PlayStation 5 and PC…
