Dune 2: Trailer Is Here – Everyone’s Stunned By Austin Butler’s Character! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Austin Butler’s appearance as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in the trailer for Dune 2 shocked audiences. Especially those who love the book…

Austin Butler looks a little surprising in the trailer for Dune 2 (officially Dune: Part Two). But his appearance hides the dark truth of his character. The film’s second part is presumably an adaptation of the second half of Frank Herbert’s Hugo Award-winning novel Dune. The cast has been expanded with several notable new names who play some of the novel’s essential characters. Prominent among them is Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan. As well as Austin Butler, who will play Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen.

Butler’s character, Feyd-Rautha, is the nephew and chosen heir of the evil Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgard) and plays a crucial role in Herbert’s novel.

Feyd-Rautha did not appear in Denis Villeneuve’s first Dune instalment. However, his character will undoubtedly be important in the sequel. Since the release of the trailer and first images for Dune 2, it is clear that Feyd-Rautha has already changed from the book in one critical respect: her looks. In the novel, the character is described as a distinctly attractive-looking man. His appearance and charismatic behaviour have some function in the story. The distinctly different appearance of Feyd-Rautha in Herbert’s novel seems to have been discarded. Instead, this key character was given a much creepier and more gruesome appearance.

Dűne 2 / Dune 2

Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha was probably shaved bald in the film to make him look more like the other Harkonnens. Stellan Skarsgard’s Baron Vladimir and Dave Bautista’s Glossu Rabban were also featured heavily in Dune. Both were given bald heads and a slightly monstrous look. All this has become synonymous with Villeneuve’s interpretation of Harkonnen. The decision to make Feyd-Rautha look like this is probably intended to keep her character in line with the rest of the house. And the fierce, ferocious look helps to convey the idea that she is a distinctly evil character.
