MOVIE NEWS – The remains of 65-year-old Julian Sands were found last weekend after the actor disappeared in January.

The search for missing actor Julian Sands is over. Sands was found missing in January in Mt. Baldy Mountains for a solo hike, as he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed spending time alone in the area. When he did not return home on January 13, his family reported him missing. The police managed to find his vehicle. But for the next five months, despite an extensive search, no trace of the Warlock star was found.

Earlier this month, around 80 volunteers gathered to comb the Mount Baldy area again. They hoped to find more clues as to what happened to Sands. Unfortunately, this search was fruitless. But a week later, the hikers accidentally discovered human remains outside the search zone. At the time, the authorities confirmed that a body had been found and that further details would be released after identification.

On Tuesday, the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department announced that the remains had been positively identified as Sands, confirming the actor’s death at the age of 65.

“The identification process for the body located on Mt. Baldy on June 24, 2023, has been completed and was positively identified as 65-year-old Julian Sands of North Hollywood,” the Sheriff’s Office states. “The manner of death is still under investigation, pending further test results. We would like to extend our gratitude to all the volunteers that worked tirelessly to locate Mr. Sands.”

Although hopes of finding Sands alive quickly diminished in the days following his disappearance, authorities have not given up the search. Even if Sands is dead, finding out what happened to him could provide answers for grieving family members. After the latest search was unsuccessful, before hikers found Sands’ remains, the family issued a statement thanking volunteers and authorities for their continued search efforts.

With a worldwide fan base, Sands was a veteran actor known for dozens of roles on the big and small screen. His most memorable performances include Killing Fields, Warlock and A Room with a View. Among Sands’ mourners are his wife, writer Evgenia Citkowitz, to whom he had been married since 1990, and their three children, Henry, Natalya and Imogen. Our thoughts are with them now.
