Indiana Jones 5 the Opening Weekend Box Office is Even Worse than Solo!

MOVIE NEWS – Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny opens at the lower end of forecasts, which is a disappointing result, which was surpassed even by the negative record so far: Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny can’t compete with Solo’s opening weekend. The film, which hits theaters on June 30, has been heralded as the final adventure for superstar Harrison Ford in the title role, which comes from 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark. Doom Dial, which also stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Jones’ goddaughter Helena Shaw, is set against the backdrop of the space race and Indy’s struggle to prevent an ancient relic from falling into the hands of a former Nazi scientist.

According to Deadline , Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is ending its opening weekend with a hugely disappointing opening weekend. Current projections are for a total of $60 million by Sunday morning. That falls far short of the film’s original projections, and lands even lower than Lucasfilm’s 2018 flop Solo: A Star Wars Story , which opened with a 3-day total of $84.4 million.

The shooting of the film was not smooth, as the presentation was postponed several times and Harrison Ford was also injured during the work. Fans weren’t too enthusiastic about the project either, as many felt that Indiana Jones 4: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull had already closed the series and there was no need for another sequel. In addition, the director of the film was not Steven Spielberg, but James Mangold, which also lowered expectations.

According to the story of the film, Indiana Jones finds himself in a new era and struggles to fit into a world that seems to have outgrown him. The film takes place in 1969, when the space race is taking place between the USA and the Soviet Union. Jones’s goddaughter Helena (Phoebe Waller-Bridge) is searching for a mysterious disk left to her by her father. The disc is an ancient device capable of influencing fate. Jones discovers that an old enemy, Jürgen Voller (Mads Mikkelsen), a Nazi officer, wants to obtain the disc to use to thwart the Apollo 11 moon landing mission. Jones and Helena try to thwart Voller’s plans as old friends and new allies come to their aid.

The film has been in theaters since June 29.
