In the meantime, the company should look into its security mechanisms because something has leaked onto an online marketplace that shouldn’t have…
A South Korean business website, MTN, has reported that Sony is looking to work with more local developers and publishers through its PlayStation division, and Pearl Abyss is the one in particular that the company has its eye on. They want exclusive content for the upcoming Crimson Desert, announced at G-Star 2019, alongside Pearl Abyss for the now-shelved Shadow Arena, the still-nowhere Plan 8, and the open-world monster-collecting DokeV, which reappeared (then disappeared again) at Gamescom 2021.
Four years ago, Crimson Desert was still touted as an MMORPG, with Pearl Abyss promising big PvP and PvE battles with a stronger narrative focus than Black Desert. In late 2020, the studio announced that the game was veering away from MMORPGs into an open-world action adventure with multiplayer support. At that time, the release window was set for the end of 2021, but two years ago, in July 2021, it was delayed indefinitely because they wanted to create a deeper, more exciting game. This year, however, the goal is to finish development, so Sony wants to team up with Pearl Abyss.
The ‘blues’ would also like to collaborate with other South Korean companies. Neowiz, Com2uS, and NCSoft are also in Sony’s plans. There were earlier rumors that Guerrilla Games and NCSoft would develop an MMO from Horizon IP, which the Dutch team eventually announced as an online project. Still, no partners were mentioned, so the involvement of South Korean developers has not been confirmed…
Wololo.net reported that the second version of the PlayStation 5 dev kit(with the Prototype 2 subtitle openly readable, having that V-shape in the middle) turned up on Yahoo Auctions in Japan, and the starting bid was 800,000 yen, about $5,500. The auction ended a few days ago, but we can’t verify if it sold due to geoblocking in both the US and Europe. Based on the pictures, it could be an older model than what leaked before the PlayStation 5’s retail design was unveiled.
As Sony has a much tighter grip on access, there’s a good chance the prototype will be unusable without it…
