Xbox Game Pass: Another Day One Release Coming In July?! [VIDEO]

Xbox Game Pass is set to add a new game in July, as a publisher has confirmed that an Xbox port of a 2021 release will join the subscription service.

Annapurna Interactive has confirmed that the beautiful first-person puzzle game Maquette will be released on Xbox Game Pass in July. July is already packed with solid Game Pass releases, including Grand Theft Auto 5 and Exoprimal. Maquette will fill a gap in narrative puzzle games, which always do well.

Maquette was first released in 2021 for PS4, PS5 and PC. It is a first-person, narrative-driven puzzle game in which players progress by manipulating the camera’s perspective and scale. Along the way, they find notes and dialogues that help create context, linking the puzzles to the relationships of the game’s protagonists. Although the average review of Maquette was mild, it was praised for its presentation and concept. Maquette has since been released for Switch earlier this year.

Developer Graceful Decay is now bringing Maquette to Xbox, a platform it skipped at launch in favour of a one-day release on PS Plus.

Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game are scheduled for release on July 19. In addition to the announcement of its release on Xbox, it has also been confirmed that Maquette will also be released on Xbox Game Pass on the same day. It should be noted that the announcement is for the Xbox version only. No word on PC Game Pass at this time.

That the puzzle game will join the service is no big surprise. Annapurna actually announced the release of Maquette on Xbox in 2022. In fact, they went as far as to say that the game will be part of Game Pass in the winter of 2022. However, the winter passed without a Maquette release. It seems that the Xbox release of Maquette has simply been postponed rather than cancelled outright. Another six months of waiting is still better than not getting the game at all.

Maquette was the debut release from the indie studio Graceful Decay. The team has yet to announce their next project. Perhaps that’s because they are still working on bringing Maquette to more platforms. Given the critical reception of Maquette, Graceful Decay’s next project is highly anticipated.

In addition to Maquette’s release on July 19, there are several exciting releases on Xbox Game Pass for the rest of the month. Exoprimal arrives today, July 14. Then Techtonica and The Cave on July 18. Next up is The Wandering Village, out on July 20. Venba will close the month on July 31.
