Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV, ‘Frontier’) and Complex Games today announced the Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters – Execution Force expansion pack, which will make its way to PC on July 25th. This second major DLC brings four unique assassin classes that allow Force Commanders to take on the deadly new Tentarus Hive threat and hold back the forces of Nurgle in all-new Death Guard cruiser boarding missions. The DLC will be available via Steam and the Epic Games Store for a suggested retail price of £12.99/$14.99/€14.99/£5,500.

The Officio Assassinorum is a highly secretive organization that provides Strike Force Xiphos with highly skilled assassins from each of the four main temples, trained in the art of executing the deadliest of enemies. The Vindicare Assassin can take down enemies from afar with powerful ranged weapons, while the Eversor Assassin is the epitome of relentless fury, able to take out multiple targets up close and turn the tide of battle in an instant. Psychics fear the disruption caused by the Culexus Assassin, who can dispel massive psychic energies and create opportunities for allies to deal massive damage. Finally, lurking in the shadows is the Callidus Assassin, who practices the art of deception and infiltration as he creates confusion in enemy ranks and leaves no trace as he strikes from the darkest corners of the galaxy.

Once acquired, Force Commanders can deploy up to one of each Assassin in their squad to face the latest threat creeping into the Tyrtaeus Sector – the Tentarus Hive. When such a mission appears on a planet, the level of corruption on the host planet continues to rise unless swift action is taken to eliminate it. The threat level continues to rise in new brutal and intense landing missions where players drive their forces into the heart of a pursuing enemy cruiser and race against time to disable the power generators and destroy the ship.

Coinciding with the release of the DLC, all players will also receive a free new update that brings the Tainted Sons, a new enemy patrol team that adds three brutal new enemies to Nurgle’s menagerie: the mutation-loving Plague Surgeon, the all-consuming Nurgling With Swarm and the towering monster Nurgle. In addition, commanders will also face new Warp Surge threats, thanks in part to support from the Adeptus Mechanicus, which will provide new wargear options to outfit troops.

Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters – Execution Force will require the base game, and the new content will begin with a mysterious announcement from the Officio Assassinorum following the campaign’s first Grandmaster’s report, with new mission types and the threat of the Tentarus Hive unfolding throughout the rest of the campaign.
