The Witcher: Yennefer Actress Makes Surprising Statement About Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt!

MOVIE NEWS – The Witcher star Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, reflects on her relationship with Liam Hemsworth after the sudden departure of Henry Cavill (SPOILER WARNING for The Witcher season 3, part 2!)

Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, looks forward to starring alongside Liam Hemsworth in The Witcher. After Henry Cavill agreed to step down from the role, he made his final appearance as the butcher of Blaviken in season 3. With war with Nilfgaard on the horizon, Yennefer and Geralt must team up if they are to find a way to keep Ciri (Freya Allan) safe. Hemsworth will replace Cavill as the title character in season 4.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Chalotra spoke about how his character works with Hemsworth’s version of The Witcher season 4 and remains optimistic about the new season.

“I’m not worried. He’s going to be brilliant. I really think so. I mean, we’ve spent five years going on this journey together, and I’m so excited for Henry. At some point, that had to come to an end, his portrayal of Geralt, and that’s been incredible. We’ve had such a wonderful time with him. But also bringing in new people to this journey we’re on is so exciting at this stage.”

“The chemistry. Yeah, that. I know their relationship means a lot to people who love the books. It’s also just so complex, and, in every stage, there’s something else to be found. I mean, they’re 100-odd years old, and they’re still going [laughs]. They still love each other. There’s something there.”

The Witcher’s Henry Cavill era is over

The cast of The Witcher will continue into Season 4 without Cavill. Apparently, season 5 has been confirmed. However, after the end of season 3 of the series, Cavill still holds the role of Geralt. It is unclear how the transformation to Hemsworth’s version will play out. Netflix’s fantasy series has honoured Cavill by giving him one last chance to play the title character. But that means Hemsworth will have to work hard to reach Cavill’s calibre, especially to win over audiences.

Sadly, Cavill’s departure leaves The Witcher in a vulnerable position, as viewers thought his portrayal of Geralt was almost perfect.

As a massive fan of the books and games, he understood the character of Geralt. His manners and psyche, for example. He has a rough and stern exterior, but behind his monstrous physique lies a softness. Her interactions with Yennefer and Ciri are genuinely touching, as the sorceress of Chalotra has a deep connection to Cavill’s Geralt. This intense connection will be hard to replicate in The Witcher season 4, with Hemsworth now taking on the role of Geralt.
